MATÉ NACHT
A monthly, free-form artistic gathering that brings together artists and creatives in a warm, safe, and informal atmosphere, encouraging the formation of genuine human and artistic connections.
The Symbolism of Maté in the “Maté Nacht” Project
Maté is not just a drink with a unique ritual at its core, it carries symbols that directly resonate with the philosophy behind the project:
• From Nature:
A green plant, prepared in a wooden cup, drunk with warm water…
Every element is natural, simple, and deeply connected to the earth.
• Attentiveness:
The water is not poured randomly, but at a precise temperature.
This requires awareness of what is offered, and care for what is given.
• Sharing:
The person refilling their own cup does not do it just for themselves…
They instinctively refill everyone else’s cups—without words, without request.
• Balance:
The drink is neither too hot nor too cold…
It is served warm, reflecting a balance between self and others, between the individual and the group.
• Stillness:
Drinking maté is not a quick action…
It is a ritual, performed slowly, with presence, and with appreciation for the moment.
All of these symbols form the philosophical foundation of Maté Nacht:
A gathering built on initiative, sharing, and mutual respect.
It unfolds in a natural community rhythm,
where art becomes a means of connection, and the space becomes a place for silent and sincere exchange.

which belongs to the holly family (Aquifoliaceae) and is mostly grown in South American countries,
particularly in Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay.
The leaves are harvested, dried, and ground, then placed in a traditional cup,
usually made of wood or a hollowed-out gourd.
Warm water is added at a moderate temperature (not boiling),
and the drink is consumed through a metal straw known as a bombilla.
This beverage is popular in many countries,
including Syria, Lebanon, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay,
but the rituals surrounding its consumption vary from one culture to another.
